Plot
It was the years long before world war two, before when the geisha walked the streets unhindered by tourists. Before Hitler came to destroy their lives. Before the Depression destroyed their very livelihood. The Maikos and Geikos(full fledged geisha) were the only ones really seen as geisha, but that was only what was on the surface. You never saw the beginners till they had been broken to bridle, as some said. The geisha were not all that was vital to the districts and towns. Without the men that played as dannas, providing the geisha with money and such, without the tea houses and their mistresses, without the shop owners, without the okiya owners; the towns would die. The geisha only played one role, but it was usually the main one seen. So how could people not be confused? They didn't think of the others that made the world go round, they only thought of the women in bright kimono, twirling and twirling to make them laugh.
